No one deserves threats for trying to improve their community. His plan for better bin collections in Salford is about fair representation, not division. Let’s choose unity over fear and support inclusive leadership.
Cllr Walters@CllrWalters

The consultation results will be published this week, and I’ll be voting in accordance with what residents have said. My thanks to @salford_mayor and @SalfordCouncil officers for ensuring a transparent and balanced process throughout. theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/n… @ChrisOsuh @guardian @garycaltonphoto @SalfordCouncil

Upon seeking legal advise I publicly refute all allegations of criminality made by @CannCareUK or any of their associates against me. Jim the Meadowman on Oct 19th 2025 While vague the below clearly refers to me (as well as others). I was blocked for arguing some people using legacy market are patients. I am a lawful medical cannabis patient one of the first in the uk, I have been a legal patient since January 2019, 3 months after the law changed. I am not a criminal. I have never been charged with, nor convicted of, any crime. My lived experience does not confirm any act of criminality, and I reject that implication entirely. I’ve noticed since being blocked by @CannCareUK and I assume a bunch of their cronies for discussing real patient issues, ones that don’t fit their approved narrative, my feed is barely showing any cannabis content. I’m having to go look for it. Maybe the algorithm now thinks I’m “disruptive” to the topic, or some other such bollocks. All I did was state the real choice faced by many patients: to use the legacy market. I’ll always defend those left behind by the “legal-only” crowd. Yes, sometimes I use legacy-market cannabis. Does that mean the effects on my tics aren’t real or that I’ve suddenly admitted I’m a criminal? No. Criminality is hearsay until proven in a court of law. My defence to any accusations always has been, and always will be, that I am a patient and my use is a medical necessity. Until a jury of my peers finds me guilty, organisations like this have no authority to decide who is or isn’t a criminal. I’m not a criminal, I’m a patient. No jury of peers has convicted me, and I’m confident they wouldn’t. Leaving people labelled as criminals because the law is unjust? Look yourselves in the mirror. This new algorithm gives too much power to collectivism. My feed shouldn’t change just because a bunch of charlatans blocked me. I deserve to be part of the conversation. I wasn't rude, insulting or anything else other than having a discussion of real issues in good faith. This is opinion policing. Between 1.6 and 2 million people in the UK self-medicate with cannabis, yet even “generous estimates” say only 100,000 use it legally. What kind of “patient group” alienates the biggest cohort of patients? Blocks with retrospective warning? And posts libel against a clearly genuine patient for daring to discuss reality? They’re not in it for the patients of the UK. They’re in it for themselves.

It takes a lot to stand on stage and share! If you have some time to chat sometime this upcoming week, I'd love to get your insight on everything too. Even if this is just an email or a DM, it would be incredibly valuable to how we move forward in the future. I'd also be interested in seeing your speech if there's any videos of it? :)

@umadcal @Legalisecanabo @ragabonz @CannCareUK I stood on stage yesterday & spoke publicly about how important the legacy market has been in my journey, well everyone’s journey due to the heritage of this plant, I fully accept my privilege in being legal. I still help & support those who do not have that privilege yet.

@Julie_Digs @ragabonz @CannCareUK Hi Julie, I can agree with that. We'll adjust to use terminology such as “legacy market,” “unregulated market,” or “illicit market” when discussing patient access and advocacy. Language does matter, and I genuinely appreciate the reminder to be both accurate and sensitive.

@umadcal @ragabonz @CannCareUK Can you please start by discontinuing the use of the term black market. Cannabis prohibition has deeply racist roots. Most advocates I know prefer the term legacy market, unregulated market or illicit market. Language matters.

I appreciate that, and I don’t think it’s a bad policy. My only issue was that I dispute my actions ever crossed a line from merely discussing the legacy market to advocating it or engaging in anything unlawful. I’m glad you can accept that. I’m also happy to delete this thread being blocked left me with few ways to reach out and stand up for myself.

Sure, happy to do so. Thank you for sharing your views. CannCare UK’s zero-tolerance policy on black market associations remains in place out of our responsibility to patient safety and advocacy for lawful access. This stance is not about targeting individuals, but about setting clear standards in a complex landscape. We recognize many patients face genuine barriers to legal access and, like yourself, may have difficult decisions to make. Legacy market use highlights the urgency for further reform, but our position on regulated supply will remain unchanged for the protection of all. I will be going back to the drawing board to re-evaluate our policy language and practices, ensuring they clearly reflect our mission and the realities faced by patients, without compromising our core principles. I want to acknowledge that, despite the challenges, this has actually been a constructive conversation. I appreciate the way this discussion has gone down, and the opportunity it’s given to address these important issues directly. CannCare UK will always engage constructively with the community, but our commitment to protecting patient welfare and promoting lawful, safe access is firm.

@umadcal @ragabonz @CannCareUK You have no place in this space, if it wasn't for the legacy market there wouldn't be medical. How can a patient needing support confide in you? Many patients continue to use bm, combust et al. Are you going to report them to the police or respect their autonomy? I'm disappointed

In situations like the one we’ve just experienced, it’s important to remember the power of forgiveness. Nobody gets everything right all the time — and when someone takes real responsibility for their actions, expresses genuine remorse, and seeks to make amends, forgiveness can help turn a difficult moment into an opportunity for growth. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting what happened or undermining accountability. Instead, it’s about allowing ourselves and others to move forward, to heal, and to build stronger, more respectful communities.

Over the past few days, there’s been a lot of tension and disagreement surrounding patient-related matters. As you all know, I’ve always taken a firm stance against any comments or behaviour that target or demean patients with disabilities — that will never change. The individual responsible for some of the recent remarks reached out to me earlier today after being made aware that certain comments could have breached the Malicious Communications Act 1988. After discussing this directly, they offered a full apology to the patients affected. With agreement from all parties, I helped facilitate that apology this afternoon. It’s in everyone’s best interest that we now move forward. I will never apologise for standing up and calling out behaviour that harms patients. I don’t care who someone is — if you’re targeting patients, I’ll challenge you every single time. I’m proud of everyone involved. It takes real strength to acknowledge mistakes, apologise, and make things right. As I’ve always said, everyone is entitled to their opinions and the freedom to express them. But targeting specific disabilities or mocking patients in a way that causes harm and distress crosses the line — and that will never be tolerated. It’s time to put this situation behind us and focus on what truly matters, supporting patients and building a community based on respect, understanding, and progress. I look forward to more productive and respectful conversations moving forward.

I’ve come down with that horrible cold and flu sickness going around. Woke up and my eyes are sticking together 😂 Totally fine, just feel drained and have a rough cough and sniffles. It’ll pass! How is everyone this morning? 💚
