Ubicloud is building the open source alternative to AWS and it's unbelievable what that means for running compute in the cloud Imagine this savings for every bit of your cloud spend. It's going to be marvelous. @UbicloudHQ

Thanks Ben! We already evolved Ubicloud Postgres to run on AWS, in addition to bare metal and our own data centers. So, when you're provisioning PG, whether via ClickHouse.com or Ubicloud.com, you just select the AWS region you'd like your Postgres instances to run on (not available on GCP yet). If you choose to run Managed ClickHouse on AWS, Managed Postgres will be right there on the same AWS region.

I am excited to share our partnership between @UbicloudHQ and @ClickHouseDB. And it’s much more than a logo swap. What this means in practice: ClickHouse is launching managed Postgres, powered by Ubicloud. It is fast, tightly integrated with ClickHouse for analytics; with native capabilities to sync and query data across data stores. What makes this different is how we’re doing it. This isn’t a thin integration. The ClickHouse team is building directly with us and contributing to the Ubicloud open source project with shared code, shared goals, and daily engineering collaboration. There’s also history here. Our teams built and operated Postgres before at Microsoft, Citus Data, and earlier Heroku Postgres. When ClickHouse looked for a Postgres partner, they needed a team that had already done this multiple times before. If you’re building systems that need fast transactions + real-time analytics (including AI workloads), this removes a lot of complexity. Thrilled about what this means for Ubicloud and ClickHouse users, and the Ubicloud project. Blog post is live, link in the comments.

Reflecting over the past year over the holidays, this was one of my favorite moments. Working together with a team I love, (literally) shipping new things, for customers I care about. Years later, the GPU compute capacity we hauled in this truck, 100s of pounds of metal and NVIDIA silicon, will fit on a small desktop device. By then, we will make fun of this Friday evening; and I hope, will still be building some new things, in some new way. Wishing everyone a healthy, wonderful new year!

We reliably provision more than 1 million VMs every week. Our PostgreSQL databases are constantly up. And we monitor and improve all our services, all the time. All clouds incl hyperscalers have outages on occasion, and I'd like to think we rank highly. But best is to try Ubicloud for yourself, and to let us know any feedback.

I really enjoyed speaking with @oguzhan at his CNBC-e show last week. The weather really cooperated, too, as we talked about entrepreneurship, open source, and of course, AI.

If you're ever curious about how inference requests work under the hood, you'll find this walk-through informative -- all the way down to microseconds.
Ubicloud@UbicloudHQ

Ever wondered how LLMs serve millions of requests? We traced every microsecond of it. ubicloud.com/blog/life-of-a… vLLM is the most popular open source inference engine. We couldn't find a reference document that describes the lifetime of an inference request. So, we put it together. Pleas share any questions or comments in X!

Cloud infra --in this case, managed Github Actions runners-- that is not just 80% lower in cost, but also 3x faster ⚡️
Felix Wotschofsky@wotschofsky

s/o to @UbicloudHQ Helped speed up our CI tremendously. With some caching from ~8 mins to now only ~2.5 mins Having that faster feedback loop is amazing
