I was over the moon at the final whistle - and five seconds later furious, seeing a politician on the pitch dancing with the Bafana players and technical team like he was part of it 😭 Then the team manager that messed up hugely tells people to be quiet. We say this every game and nothing changes: politicians should do politics, administrators should administrate. The players and coaches earned this - no one else.

I argued this case like my life depended on it. To me, to commit a young person to prison for contempt of court offended my sense of justice. I argued Justice Jaftha’s position and called for record. Adv Reg Wallis for the Amicus took the same position. Our argument was upheld. In paragraph 34 the Judge sums up my argument on this score. We are successful, civil contempt should not result in a criminal comeuppance. What a victory!
