Court case Update: Republic Vs Issah Seidu & 3 Ors (bail hearing of one of the accused persons who tried to travel without permission). 1. The OSP informed the court that on Sunday, 12th April, 2026, the first Accused was arrested at the Accra International Airport while he tried to travel outside the country without permission from the trial judge in flagrant disregard of his bail terms. 2. Counsel for the OSP prayed the court to rescind the bail granted to the Accused Person and commit him into the custody of OSP pending the conclusion of prosecution as Accused Person has shown he is not ready to comply with the bail terms. 3. Counsel for 1st Accused told the court that the Accused Person did not intend to breach his bail terms but was travelling to attend a seminar, the 1st Accused person had been nominated for by his employers. Counsel for 1st Accused Person, showed a copy of the letter nominating the 1st Accused to attend the conference to the Judge. 4. Counsel for the 1st Accused Person further stated that the 1st Accused Person being on the stop list is unlawful since the Accused Person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. 5. Counsel for the Republic on point of law stated that although every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the law considers that it is possible for an accused to abscond while on trial. He quoted Section 96 of Act 30 and Article 14 of the 1992 Constitution. 6. The Judge varied the bail condition. In addition to the old bail conditions, the Accused was to deposit his passport with the Court together with all other traveling documents in his custody. Ends.
