@roodave His failed takeover of Twitter is when it ended for me (although he may view it as right wing success). This is my first post in ages - mostly to try to get you to jump over to BlueSky. You will find it very refreshing.

I have followed musk a long time mainly for his technical leadership, desperately lacking in many domains esp the civil service. Something has changed in the last year, increasingly incoherent, foolishly arrogant, dangerous. I’ve had enough, even out of morbid curiosity

Why are Toronto’s streetcars slow? Because we let 12 people in 12 automobiles block 200 people in one streetcar. Streetcar. Priority. Now.

#Footscray Where the shared path literally takes you through a heavy duty transmission tower. Just gives you that ⚡️ boost.

@yfreemark @theoverheadwire I keep telling new graduate engineers to look at rail because of the international career if offers. Clearly demonstrated here! In spite of the record spend in Australia on passenger rail, we barely show up (partly due lots of spend on existing networks).

@ZachElsbury Batteries seem to be killing trolleybuses as you'd probably know, but in the future one day I estimate our over reliance on lithium batteries will catch up with us and we'll end up doing just that.

Interesting work from Infrastructure Victoria - a proposal for 11 BRT priority corridors for enhanced rapid bus services. Would be of particular benefit to the outer west, outer north, and middle east. abc.net.au/news/2023-12-0…

Look out world 🌎. #Canada’s population hits 40 million. That’s a lot of 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Time to park the ‘small country’ narrative. cbc.ca/amp/1.6878211

Yeah this is where things get really…strange. The screens are brought in so the monarch can be anointed in holy oil. Just as Zadok the Priest anointed Solomon. Ok. #Coronation

In a few weeks, a one-day V/Line ticket will be capped at $9.20, the same as a one-day metropolitan fare. I'm *very* tempted to see if I can make it from one frontier of Victoria to another (Mildura to Mallacoota) which would cost approximately one cent per kilometre travelled.

@saramfung After over a decade overseas, my Canadian accent remains strong and I'm often told that I have one. When I watch Canadian TV (especially news) I really notice the Canadian accent.

A person just told me she could tell from the minute I started talking that I was from Canada because I have a Canadian accent! I've never been told this before! Has anyone ever been told they have a Canadian accent??
