I'm grateful for the extra life it's giving me, but palliative chemotherapy is fairly dispiriting. A race to see whether the drugs or cancer gets you first while you try to stay chipper & soldier on. So here are our cats Scampi, Keats & Wurzel for a bit of light relief 😀

@uplandresources @fedwarian @IoloWilliams2 Thanks for your reply @uplandresources - would it be fair to say then, as a general principle, that where you were looking at a fairly lengthy grazing period on upland habitats in the way that @fedwarian is doing then natives tend to be the better option?

@ArfonWilliams4 @fedwarian @IoloWilliams2 At the same time if you’re only going to graze an area for a few weeks in the summer to meet habitat prescriptions you might not need to go native. We had Lims with calves at foot do okay at Bronydd because the SSSIs had trees on the edge for shelter.

@fedwarian @IoloWilliams2 A few years back @uplandresources (Mariecia Fraser at IBERS) told me it was cattle in the uplands that's important and that continentals would do as well as natives. I think natives can probably go up earlier and stay out longer and maintain condition though.

@ArfonWilliams4 @fedwarian @IoloWilliams2 No, the research we’ve done shows the diet composition of different breed types is similar, and in particular Molinia utilisation is similar. But I always say you have to match stock type, and related requirements, to the conditions 👍
