If you lost the #MDT ability to capture static IP in #SCCM #OSD, here is a replacement for the ZTINICConfig.wsf. It's based on the original script and is named "Capture-OSDZTINICConfig". Find it here - github.com/urpatton/Captu…. Please direct any questions or bugs through GitHub.

Microsoft has shared an update on their promise from March 2026 to make Windows 11 faster, more reliable, and easier to use. Many of these changes are now in test versions for early users and will reach everyone over time. Here is a complete list of new and improved features delivered since March: >The Windows Insider Program is now simpler with two main channels: Experimental and Beta. It is clearer what each does, and you can switch or leave channels more easily without reinstalling Windows. >Windows Update is easier to control. -All updates now use one restart per month for the system, drivers, and other parts. -You can skip updates during initial setup, pause them in 35-day steps, and the power menu always shows normal Restart and Shut Down options without forcing updates. >Copilot and AI features are less pushy. -The “Ask Copilot” buttons were removed from Snipping Tool and Photos. -In Notepad, the button now says “Writing Tools” instead of using a generic Copilot icon. >File Explorer is more reliable and faster with fewer freezes, smoother opening and navigation, fewer sudden changes in the Home view, sharper thumbnails, and better dark mode support with less white flashing. >Widgets and the Discover news feed are calmer and less distracting with fewer notifications and badges. -The news feed is off by default and does not pop up. -On the lock screen, Widgets show only the Weather tile by default. It also uses less memory. >The system performs better overall, saving memory in many areas The Start menu, Search, Action Center, and other tasks feel faster and more responsive. More changes like taskbar options and Start menu tweaks are planned soon. You can try the latest features early by joining the Windows Insider Program and selecting the Experimental channel.

Huh. Am I the only one who didn't know that Microsoft makes a tool called EventLogExpert that is supposed to be an improved version of event viewer for IT/helpdesk people? github.com/microsoft/Even…

Microsoft is moving to 100% native apps for Windows 11. They are stepping away from web-based wrappers. A new team at Microsoft will rebuild apps using native tools like WinUI. Engineer Rudy Huyn is involved in this shift. Apps like File Explorer should launch quicker. The Start menu and context menus will feel more responsive.

🛡️ Microsoft Issues WinRE & Setup Updates Ahead of 2026 Secure Boot Certificate Expiration Source: cybersecuritynews.com/microsoft-crit… Microsoft has rolled out two new dynamic updates, KB5081494 and KB5083482, designed for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Released on March 26, 2026, these patches deliver essential enhancements to setup binaries and the Windows Recovery Environment. Accompanying these technical releases is a critical advisory regarding the impending expiration of Windows Secure Boot certificates, urging system administrators to take immediate preparatory action to prevent severe boot disruptions across personal and enterprise devices. The most pressing element accompanying these March 2026 releases is Microsoft’s prominent warning concerning the impending expiration of Windows Secure Boot certificates. #cybersecuritynews #windows11

- against OS animations, I can only imagine how irritating this could be for someone who truly has accessibility needs but is not a seasoned IT person. This, among other things, is unacceptable. (9/9)

The new setting changes pretty much everything in the OS related to visual effects, and there is NO OPTION for toggling the individual animation effects in the new Windows Setting. The REAL PROBLEM comes when I check the single box to Animate controls and elements. (7/9)

But, if I toggle the new Animation effects setting to either on or off, it changes not only the legacy performance settings, but a whole list of other things that I got tired of writing down. (took forever to find all the settings in the new Windows 11 Settings quagmire) (6/9)

@zacbowden It wasn't too bad at first. But the last 12 months have seen a steep decline and then over a cliff. At this point I'd almost rather use the Windows 8.1 UI. At least it was stable and consistent and could be changed back if we didn't like it.

In your opinion, has Windows 11 gotten better or worse since its launch in 2021?

@techspence Our new hires were given their "new" computer but it was disassembled and in all its parts. Their first job was to assemble their computer. Except that the assembled parts wouldn't boot, because it wasn't their computer. It wasn't a test, it was their initiation. Lmao

Back when I worked on an IT team we would prank each other by setting people’s background to David Hasselhoff when they walked away without locking their machine. We called it hoffing. If you were the victim, you got hoffed. 😅
