Let’s talk about sexual exploitation, an SRH threat, poorly understood and escaping political and civil society mitigation. Sexual exploitation means any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power/trust for sexual purposes, including but not limited to, profiting monetarily/socially or politically from the use of another person’s body in a sexual manner in order to benefit. Most form of sexual exploitation are punished by Law No. 54/2018 on corruption for imprisonment of at least 5 years and more sanctions. Examples of Sexual Exploitation: 👉 Paying for sex/prostitution or transactional sex 👉 The manager in a music concert coercing an artist to perform naked 👉 Sexual trafficking and slavery 👉 Paying someone to engage in pornography 👉 Demanding sex by threatening to withhold goods, services or employment 👉 Sex out of love/interest. Eg sex for job, sex for marks/grades, sex for promotion... Get aware, get against, strive for a thriving society.
