Lock 19 on the Mississippi River has reopened from its winter maintenance period. The purpose of the closure was to perform underwater rock excavation upstream of the lock chamber in preparation for future repair and extension of the upstream river wall nose pier.

Chargé d’Affaires Tom Hines and Lieutenant Colonel Norman Wilson joined Minister of Sports, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Motlatsi Maqelepo for the official handover of Mamoketsi Primary School, with M8.5 million in renovations, to the Government of Lesotho. U.S. assistance transformed Mamoketsi Primary into a safer, more modern, and inspiring place for young Basotho learners. The school received a new science lab, a fully equipped computer lab, renovated restrooms, roofing repairs for seven classrooms, a perimeter fence with safety lights, and a rainwater harvesting system. Together, the United States and Lesotho are investing in safer schools and brighter futures.
