In 2024, the FAFSA rollout fell to just 46% nationwide completion 👀
In 2025, completion improved to 53.9%.
Today, the Class of 2026 has already set an all-time completion record at 54.7%, with just weeks remaining until June 30 and a chance to break a 60% nationwide completion rate.
Momentum is rising across the country. Every state is now ahead of last year’s pace, with Florida, Arizona, Alaska, and New Mexico seeing major jumps in completions. Texas, California, New York, and Illinois, have already crossed the 60% mark.
What changed?
The FAFSA cycle launched on time, with earlier access and fewer technical barriers. The application process became faster, smoother, and simpler. Instant identity verification reduced delays, fewer screens and fields streamlined the experience, and ongoing system fixes and performance improvements helped eliminate barriers for students and families.
Students and families notice the difference. America notices the difference 🇺🇸

Over the last several months, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with leaders across tech, healthcare, and government in cities across the U.S. and abroad, from Dublin to London, Las Vegas to Nashville, San Francisco to DC, and many more along the way.
Whether at HIMSS, ViVE, the JP Morgan Conference, GovCIO Summit, Milken Summit, Google Check Up, or through countless conversations in between, one thing has become increasingly clear: people everywhere are asking the same questions.
How do we modernize systems? How do we deliver faster? How do we make services work better for the people who rely on them? And how do we help major institutions harness the full potential of AI?
There is great work happening across sectors to improve delivery, strengthen systems, integrate AI, and drive real results. I’m looking forward to sharing more from here in DC and from the road, the conversations taking place, and the missions ahead.
More to come.

The rampant level of healthcare and hospice fraud in California will not go unnoticed, and those who defraud the American taxpayer will be held accountable.

Doctors didn’t go to medical school to be buried in paperwork—and patients shouldn’t wait because of it. We’re modernizing prior authorization: faster decisions, less red tape, more time for care.
The 1980s called—we’re sending the fax back. Here’s the latest on our reform efforts, with more to come: cms.gov/newsroom/blog/…

During Public Service Recognition Week, we honor the people who keep our country running. Public servants take the oath and show up every day, often without recognition, and shoulder that duty.
They respond when it matters most, and deliver for the American people in ways many never see.
We may help build the technology, but the heart of it lives inside the agencies carrying out the mission, on the front lines and behind the scenes.
It goes beyond one week. Our respect for those who serve is 365 days a year, and so is their impact.
