Doing some benchmark testing (50 benchmark dummies + 1 player). I think it runs pretty well, considering that we're aiming for somewhere around 25 players per lobby. (1/2) (This is the "FFA" gamemode, there are also team options as well) #robloxdev #roblox #tanks

Benchmarking with 50 "players" (dummies) in the 2 teams gamemode (which contains an additional 10 NPCs that are supposed to protect the spawnpoint and prevent spawnkillling, as shown at the end). You can notice a bit of lag but I'm happy with the results! #robloxdev #roblox

An idea of what the tank upgrades look like atm. I decided to show my favorite one, which highlights the unique aspects of our game that other roblox tank games are missing (such as the drones)! Best part is, none of this is locked behind a paywall! #robloxdev #roblox #tanks

Note: There are only like ~25ish Dummy NPCs (aside from the 10 protector tanks). The drones are controlled by an AI that is overridden when you are firing (holding click).

It was basically a 60 tank benchmark. On release there won't be any NPC tanks aside from the protector NPCs (I might have a system that adds a couple of dummy NPCs to counter dead servers), but I don't want the dummy NPCs to take away from the progression.

I've seen similar themed games on roblox which have locked upgrades as well as tank types behind gamepasses or currency that is obtainable through robux purchases. I want to ensure that gameplay is fair and that tanks are balanced (to the best of our ability) 😄

This project is more of a passion project, and thus I kept gamepasses at a minimum (There is only a gamepass for private servers), which explains the lack of a gamepass shop frame. All tanks are accessible through gameplay and are not locked behind gamepasses or dev products.

The kb/s received is also fairly moderate. The number does go down midway, but that is due to the NPCs killing each other. I think given the map size, 25-30 players might work really well.

Roblox is removing cross-game gamepass sales and forcing a $5/month requirement just to donate, with a 1,000 Robux monthly limit. This will kill PLS DONATE. PLS DONATE is built around cross-game gamepass sales, a system that’s free for players and has no limits. Removing it doesn’t just change things, it kills the game completely. I wasn’t made aware of this change before it was announced. No warning, no chance to give my input or feedback before they announce this change. I’ve been developing on this platform since I was 12 and have always loved making games on Roblox, so seeing something this impactful happen overnight without real consideration is genuinely upsetting. This means a lot to me and I’m really sad about this. The solution Roblox gave us is the Transfer API, which really isn’t a solution and still affects us heavily. It’s locked behind a $5/month subscription, capped at 1,000 Robux per month, and under-18 users require parental approval for EVERY SINGLE transaction. That completely changes the experience. If transferring Robux is going to be paid, gamepasses need to coexist. Removing them ruins everything and doesn’t stop bad actors from just purchasing through the site anyway. It doesn’t make sense. I really don’t want to build hatred toward this platform. I love Roblox and still believe in it, and if it truly cares about its developers, I’m sure there are better solutions that keep users safe without killing our game. @Roblox @DavidBaszucki
