@infinitisirrena @KindaSortaMaebe Our TechAnim, for example, is buried in ABP logic, warps and physics properties 100% of the day b/c we specifically needed help with that. For stuff like rigging and blends etc our non-tech animators handle that because they've added those tools to their set through experience

@infinitisirrena @KindaSortaMaebe Animators tend to upskill and be pretty savvy, so if they're still hiring a specific tech role on top of that you can generally assume it's gonna be pretty much all for that extra 5% nobody else on the team can already cover

Just got out of an interview that didn't go well, and wanted to ask is it common to have a knowledge of state machines, ik retargeting, and stride warping as a tech anim? i have some knowledge of them, but nothing I've had to work on that required it, so i don't know much. :((

Controversial maybe, but Leartes running an artstation challenge weirds me right out. A studio that buys people's portfolio projects on the cheap and resells them as "in-house" products hosting a "make environments to *maybe* win some money" gives me unpaid art-test vibes

i thought for a while what the most efficient way to get radial ripples from hits on the shields would be. To avoid needing to pass excessive data every frame to the shields for hit positions, I just used a very shallow inverse depth test on a scaled sphere particle! 4/5

@james_gammell @RaphDeee I do agree with that wording, for sure. I just think it's a very important distinction that the game *hasn't stayed afloat for a decade being "barely monetised"*, it's laiden with monetisation and it's just someone else paying. It creates false expectations for f2p

@user_nikc @RaphDeee for the seller the plat was obtained by trading the result of their time invested in the game without a credit card.

Warframe is fantastic. Game is free, new updates are free, shop items you can get with in game currency, seasonal battle pass but ITS ALL FREE. Not only is the game enjoyable, they managed to keep their playerbase stable for a decade with barely any monetization.
