@josephmoranfl @NancyCarrow That is not exactly true... Until BOT Leadership was supportive of sports it didn't matter. It's a big investment which our peers at UC, UH, UL and C., all bought in with their BOT backing. Recall this is the school that rejected big-time college athletics until the late 70s

@NancyCarrow Exactly why Genshaft should never be celebrated by a USF fan. They didn’t give a shit about Athletics and it cost us not once but twice.

This should not be USF's expectation every year. We should expect much better than this and should recruit coaches & players accordingly.

@NancyCarrow @RoyMVPDaniel Suggestion: fans need to continue to stay engaged, buy tix, cheer loudly & donate. It's the only way we get a chance at P4 spot. It's not a panacea...but our TV deal will go from $7-8M to $35-46M. That would help retention of players & coaches. Easier said than done....right?

@RoyMVPDaniel I get it Roy and I'm not mad at Hodgson but 5 coaches in 5 years is too much. Our fans, donations, NIL and team support will struggle each year due to turnover. I'm trying to figure out how we keep our fans til we get in the P4/2. Any suggestions?

@DarrienStarling @TheHerdUSF Works both ways... G6 gets a lot of good to great players from the P4 that ran into playing time challenges or should have selected a G6 school originally G6 schools also prey on their own by taking the best G6 players from teams that don't have $$$ to retain

The American Conference might be the best talent incubator in college athletics. Develop a coach? Gone. Develop a top player? Gone. It’s the most efficient springboard to the P4. If everything changes year to year… what do fans tie their loyalty to?

@DarrienStarling @NancyCarrow IMO it goes back to how Americans followed sports b4 the rise of BIG network TV dollars, ESPN, Social Media & NIL, that all focus on elevating the player at the expense of the team/program Fans will go back 2 supporting "the program" over any attachments to rental type players

@NancyCarrow Yeah it’s really difficult to attach yourself to coaches and players nowadays because of this. This is new for fans now, so id imagine some folks are trying to figure out what to be loyal to nowadays.

@JoeGreenUSF No effin way. Just say NO to Andy Kennedy. That is NOT on brand for All Gas No Brakes. USF had a chance to hire him last year and said, NOPE. His name is no longer associated with top jobs. We need a sitting coach who will bring his players like CAAR & CBH.

I want to be very clear. I want Coach Hodgson to come back to USF. That's my preference. period. BUT, if Coach H takes the money at Providence, I will understand. Assuming that announcement comes out Monday. Now, if Coach H leaves, why not go after the UAB coach? The dude always gives us problems. He recruited Yaxel Lendeborg.... who now is an all star player at #1 Michigan. He beat Coach Amir multiple times and that's when Amir had Youngblood, Pryor, Miguel.... UAB's coach Andy Kennedy would be a good hire, IMO. He's 411-231 as a head coach. He won the C-USA tournament in 2022 when UAB was still in the C-USA, then he won the AAC tournament (beating USF in the semi-finals) in 2024. He got UAB in the NCAA tournament twice (2022 and 2024). Look at his records with UAB, 22-7, 27-8, 29-10, 23-12, 24-13, 20-12.... this dude wins every year. Conference records at UAB, 13-5, 14-4, 14-6, 12-6, 13-5, 11-7. Coach Kennedy is set to make 1.4m or 1.5m this upcoming season. Can USF offer Kennedy more? Maybe 2m? Better incentives? Bigger NIL roster than UAB could be enticing. Can we go and get this guy to be on our side? Otherwise, we gotta play against him every year. Lets just go get him! Whatchya think?

We were informed by Coach Hodgson that he will be leaving to become the new head men’s basketball coach at Providence. Congratulations and thank you to Coach Hodgson, Jordan and Jett! We had an incredible season, including our second regular season championship in the last three years and our first conference tournament title in the last 36 years. This year’s team earned not one, but two championship banners for the Yuengling Center rafters, and we’re forever grateful to our student-athletes, Coach Hodgson, his family and his staff. Coach said he would come and win championships and he delivered on that promise by leading the most successful season in the history of our program. Rest assured, we did everything within reason to try and retain Coach for the long term. We will always be proactive and aggressive in working to retain high performing coaches, but equally as important, we will also always be the ultimate stewards of our department’s financial resources. Through candid conversations throughout this process, we have been preparing for this possibility in recent weeks. This includes working diligently to put our program in prime position to land the perfect leader to not only build on this special season, but to also help take us to even greater heights in seasons to come. Bulls Nation, I am naturally biased, but we believe the short- and long-term opportunity of leading our men’s basketball program is second to none. The interest associated with this position has already been unprecedented in advance of it officially opening, which speaks to how far our program has come in recent seasons, how well it’s competitively resourced, and where we're going. In short, we could not be more excited about the future of USF Men’s Basketball and can’t wait to keep building together with every one of you! All Gas. No Brakes!!! Go Bulls!!!🤘🏻😤

NIL is ruining college sports. Before all this, FAU was making back to back March Madness runs. Now it feels almost impossible to compete when programs like Memphis and USF are outspending everyone. It’s turning into who can pay more instead of real college basketball.

Syracuse betrayed the Big East to save football. Their basketball program is dead, and just got turned down by a guy choosing between USF and Providence. But hey, football has done this — hope it was worth it guys
