Canyon Lakes Ranger RD

Thanks to volunteers from Backbone Adventures and Big Thompson 4x4 Club for supplying materials and replacing almost 300 feet of fencing in the Johnny Park area. The fencing helps to protect the surrounding forest from damage by clearly defining the access roads and parking area.

Access Update: The Buckhorn Bunkhouse and Assistant Ranger Cabin, located at the Buckhorn Ranger Station on Canyon Lakes Ranger District, are now available for reservation. Find information and make reservations here: recreation.gov/camping/campsi…

Reservations for the Red Feather Assistant Ranger Cabin, Stub Creek Cabin and Buckhorn Ranger Cabin go live Friday, March 14 on recreation.gov. Reservations begin in late May and are available through Sept. 28 with a 2 night minimum stay.

Pierson Park Road, south of Estes Park, is temporarily closed for fuels treatment work on 269 acres. Although the road is typically closed this time of year, this is for all uses on the road and 500 feet on either side for public safety. Learn more at fs.usda.gov/detail/arp/new….

Crews worked on containment line with help from aircraft and a dozer. Resources plan to continue working on containment in the morning. #Deadhorsefire At 5 p.m. crews responded to another fire start northwest of Black Mountain. Air resources were sent and little heat remains.

USFS fire crews are responding to a 2 acre wildland fire near Forest Service Roads 182 and 315B. Additional resources from Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Albany County, and Livermore Fire Protection District, air resources and heavy equipment are en route. #DeadhorseFire
