I took the picture below one quiet morning. It shows a tree cut down almost entirely, with only its roots left behind. But as fate would have it, after a while, stems and leaves began to sprout brightly green, yet so fragile. These stems will grow into branches over time and give the tree another chance at life. Life will always offer a second chance, regardless of the misfortune. As the popular Hausa adage goes: “In da rai, da rabo” loosely translating to “when there is life, there is hope.@silverpenydr

🇮🇷 🇦🇪 🇮🇱 Kinda wild stat from this war… Iran has actually fired way more drones and missiles at Gulf countries than Israel. Since Feb 28 it launched about 255 at Israel, but around 2,171 toward Gulf states. The UAE alone took about 1,138. Most of these countries host U.S. bases, so it looks like Tehran is trying to pressure Washington through its regional allies. Now Gulf states are warning the attacks “cannot go unanswered.” They even held an emergency GCC meeting and signaled possible collective self-defense if strikes keep coming. The Federal Government and ASUU have signed a new agreement to make Nigerian universities more stable, trustworthy, and high-quality, and to make sure that academic calendars don't change. This new agreement concludes the renegotiation of the 2009 FGN–ASUU Agreement. Highlights of the agreement include: - 40% salary increase for academic staff - Improved pension benefits: Professors to earn pension equivalent to their annual salary at retirement (age 70) - Better university funding model with dedicated allocations for research, libraries, labs, equipment, and staff development - Proposed National Research Council (NRC) to fund research with at least 1% of Nigeria’s GDP - Stronger university autonomy & academic freedom - Elected academic leadership (Deans/Provosts), with only professors eligible - Agreement takes effect from January 1, 2026, and will be reviewed after 3 years - No victimization of anyone involved in the struggle during the course of drafting the new agreement.
