Welcome back, Skip! We’re thrilled to welcome Jim Essian back for his 10th season as Manager of the Utica Unicorns! A true fixture of the USPBL since day one, Jim’s leadership and deep understanding of the player experience have helped build a modern dynasty in Utica, highlighted by four USPBL Championships (2019, 2020, 2021, 2023). With 47+ years of professional baseball experience, including time as a Major League catcher, MLB manager, and international skipper for the Greek National Team, Jim continues to be an invaluable mentor—helping 16 USPBL players sign with MLB organizations along the way. Utica, your championship leader is back. Let’s make it another special season!

Championship standard. Local roots. Back on the Eastside. Ryan Kottke returns to the dugout as Manager of the Eastside Diamond Hoppers after leading the franchise to the 2025 USPBL Championship. A Sterling Heights native, Ryan brings hometown pride, relentless competitiveness, and a winning culture that continues to elevate the Hoppers. From a five-year professional playing career to a strong collegiate coaching résumé, Ryan’s commitment to player development and team success is evident at every stop. Now, he’s back to defend the title and keep Eastside at the top of the league. Hoppers fans—your champion is ready to run it back.

A new era is officially underway in Westside. Justin Karn enters his fifth season in the USPBL and his first full season as Manager of the Westside Woolly Mammoths—and he’s already set the bar high. After taking over late in 2024, Justin led the Mammoths on an incredible 18–2 run to the top playoff seed, powered by one of the most dominant pitching stretches in league history. With a proven track record of success at every level—from NCAA Division I to conference championships and pro player development—Justin brings energy, preparation, and leadership to the dugout. From rewriting record books in college baseball to commanding the Mammoths’ staff, the future in Westside is bright. Mammoths fans, get ready. This is just the beginning.

Welcome back to the dugout, Coach! We’re excited to welcome Paul Noce back as manager of the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers for the 2025 season! Entering his 45th year in professional baseball, Paul has been a cornerstone of the USPBL since the very beginning—known for his loyalty, determination, and exceptional character. From leading the Diamond Hoppers to multiple championship appearances, to shaping the league as Field Coordinator, to helping 12 players sign with MLB organizations (with three reaching the Major Leagues), Paul’s impact on our league is undeniable. Add in a World Series title with the 1990 Cincinnati Reds, a standout playing career, and a winning legacy as a collegiate coach—and you’ve got a true baseball lifer. Beavers fans, your leader is ready. Let’s get to work.
