When asked about the bill, the Minnesota congresswoman who was born in Somalia shrugged off the move, telling Fox News Digital “Good luck to [Nancy Mace].” The amendment would require members of Congress, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed officials to be natural-born citizens — the same standard currently applied to presidents and vice presidents. Omar, who was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000, was one of the lawmakers Mace specifically pointed to when unveiling the proposal.
