I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: for the items it actually carries, Target is almost always cheaper than the grocery store. Really the only exception is when the grocery store is running a sale, and even then Target is often cheaper.

grocery shopping at target feels like going to get a burger at buffalo wild wild wings

@plzbepatient 14-year-old me HATED everything about this and the normies it appealed to.

This type of UI was terrible, unusable, but also extremely cozy and optimistic and fun
Retro Tech Dreams@RetroTechDreams
I want every app to have a UI like Managing Your Money 2 (1996)

@Shirinsmit Nobody ever washes their hands before they dig into the bag of ice in the freezer.

@PabloPeniche real ones know that .com is for San Jose.
English

@pyppy555 @PabloPeniche Well I don't joke around when it comes to this sort of thing.
English

@usrbinsean @PabloPeniche They're speaking jokingly I think. Kinda like how .com is de-facto mostly American since most major American sites use it or another international TLD instead of .us
English

@PabloPeniche In fact, when all this was being built SF was still dicking around with BBSs/FidoNET/SF Net and the largely offline Multimedia Gulch was where all the art/tech people were.
SF may have been the dotcom center in the late 90s, but was really late to the Internet party as a whole.
English

@PabloPeniche Nope. .com was run by Network Solutions in McLean, Virginia in the early days. Then IANA was out of LA near the roots of USC's ISI, then Verisign bought NSI and are back in NoVA in Reston.
SF itself was never part of core internet infrastructure.
English

@prettyreznik @interesting_aIl Well yeah. This was very common in Europe because people were stuck with the govt telephone monopoly in the 90s/2000s and would be routinely buying SIM cards, esp for roaming or prepaid.
It wasn't like the US where you got your SIM from VoiceStream and forgot about it.

Tbh, I have far more nostalgia for the luxury car showcase music, composed by none other than the musical supergenius Edd Kalehoff.

If you were home sick from school, I bet this was on your TV. Do you know what it is?

@ankkala People in both cities don't think about parts of their own city outside of what they can get to in 5 - 10 minutes unless they live in the exurbs or they're going to some major event.
Both cities are rife with traffic and laziness which makes people incredibly provincial.
English

@usrbinsean i heard someone else say that SF people dislike LA and LA don't think about SF at all
English

@ChrisLilac @MakeAugusta You don't actually want all that heat coiling up in an oversized cord.
English

@MakeAugusta Mine can handle it. Stop buying the cheapest shit on the shelf and buy a man's extension cord.

Every so often I think about the woman who completely filled a Tulane shirt with possibly the best boobs ever who I saw while waiting for a flight out of Phoenix of all places.
Never seen anything like it in that city, probably never will.

why are men 10x hotter when they’re in an airport and you know you’ll never see them again

@nobodyknows2322 For a while, at least prior to 2023, Arizona's groundwater was so well managed that it was even being routinely recharged despite drilling pressure.
English

@nobodyknows2322 Sort of. Every new development has to be within a city or prove it has a 100 year Assured and Adequate Water Supply, and it's been this way since 1980 with the Groundwater Management Act, but it's only been since 2023 did ADWR decide that groundwater couldn't count to that.
English

Question: what if they had decided in the 1950s 'omg we are running out of water ban all new development!!' vs 'let's find a way to innovate and build our way out of scarcity? then we can build all those houses!'

Just an amazing accomplishment here
English

@nobodyknows2322 Most new housing replaces farmland.
Housing is vastly less water intensive than crops.

I'd cuck for @ogafroman if I had a wife tbh

I don’t know if Afroman fucked my wife either tbh
