Year after year, @michiganstateu administrators give themselves generous raises on top of their already sky high salaries, as tenure system faculty and librarian salaries lag far behind. Great video! It has been >9 months since @utsfmsu reached a clear majority support for establishing a faculty union at @michiganstateu and filed for recognition with our Administration. Compare this with the timeline to establish Solidarity in 1980 in 🇵🇱 (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidarit….

Recognition of our union is not complicated despite what @KevinGuskiewicz and @Jeitschko want you to think. @michiganstateu should have recognized UTSF many months ago. Administration's foot-dragging is nothing more than a union-busting tactic, which doesn't serve the interests of our campus community or make MSU a better place. #UnionsForAll

Another faculty member shared: "It’s ironic that we pay so much overhead out of our research grants but get so little professional development support from the university. There’s not even stable fund for faculty to travel to a conference in my department."

Regardless of what McKinsey reported to @Michiganstateu, faculty know one key change that will support research productivity @KevinGuskiewicz @Jeitschko: "Hire back the staff that used to help faculty submit and manage grants (you know, those things that you keep 56% of as overhead) so we can submit and manage more grants (that fund graduate students and undergraduate scholars in our labs)."

Yesterday, we focused on outdated research and physical infrastructure at @michiganstateu. Today, faculty share what they would do with $2M to support research and teaching at our university. One common request we heard @KevinGuskiewicz: “Invest in tenure-track faculty lines. Our working conditions are students' learning conditions and profs can better invest in creative & sustaining pedagogy when they don't also have to be looking for permanent jobs!”
