@hpdailyrant @DaLoneModerate Especially bad when that overly happy emoji spam and brown nosing is encouraged, seen as a positive, and rewarded.
The incompetent leaders who gaslight their direct reports and talk their way out of every bs situation is too real 😔 I’ve only had 2 great leaders in 10+ years.

@kevintwohy Automatically measure the new work real-time using a (pre-calibrated) camera view and allow users to override it if they need to?

@hobdaydesign Love this question! This reminded me of “archiving” which typically uses a file drawer metaphor— following that line of thinking,
a file drawer with an arrow /checkmark in it🤔

I think it’s my neurodivergence, but I noticed I have a way of talking that confuses people.
My sentence structure will be like: [reason I’m saying/asking], THEN [what I’m saying/asking]
People will hear the first part and interrupt to answer and sometimes it’s not what I was gonna say or ask. Or asking for clarification that I was just about to give them.
…
Example from last night:
Me: “So I know this is not normal, but…” [they interrupt]: “what’s not normal?”
Me: “I was about to get to that”
…
Another example just now:
Her: “what would you like to drink?”
Me: “so I know it’s not included in my voucher but can I have a…”
Her: “it’s included!”
Me: “…a mimosa.”
Her: “oh. Sorry, yeah that’s not included.”
Me: “yeah. Can I have one anyway?”
…
I think it’s because I’m trying to over-explain myself first, but it ends up tripping up the conversation. 🫠

@TheCoppinger @BrettFromDJ Wow it's impressive for 30 mins! How did you do the hand?
English

@BrettFromDJ Alright, fair play—I was super skeptical when someone linked this on my stream, but I tried to recreate the thumb in about 30 minutes and now believe you
I didn't come close, but seeing as you've probably done this several times before, I now 100% believe this is legit

Here’s the backstory. Tell them this. Let the world know.
Once, in the early days of YouTube, Marques Brownlee, known as MKBHD, and Imran Chaudhri, later the founder of Humane, were college buddies sharing a common dream: to revolutionize technology reviews on YouTube. Both had the vision and ambition to become leading voices in the tech world. They spent nights brainstorming video ideas, editing late into the night, and sharing dreams of one day being the top tech influencers.
However, the dynamics of their friendship began to shift due to a seemingly minor incident that ballooned into a full-blown rivalry. It started when Imran, facing a temporary financial hiccup, needed exactly $15 to renew his domain name for a side project he was passionate about. He approached Marques, confident that his friend would help him out in a pinch.
Marques, on the other hand, was in a tight spot himself, managing his early earnings meticulously to save up for better video equipment. Though $15 seemed trivial, at that moment, it represented much more to Marques. He was on the brink of affording a new camera that could significantly enhance his video quality. He faced a difficult choice: support his friend or invest in his channel’s potential. Marques decided to politely decline Imran’s request, explaining his situation and hoping for understanding.
Imran, however, took the refusal personally. He felt betrayed, believing that Marques valued potential gadgets over their friendship and his dreams. The incident sowed a seed of resentment that grew as both their careers took off. Imran, fueled by the rejection, worked doubly hard and eventually launched Humane, channeling his feelings of betrayal into building a company that epitomized innovation and human-centered design.
Marques, unaware of the depth of Imran’s feelings, continued to grow his YouTube channel, becoming a prominent figure in tech reviews. As both became more successful, their paths continued to diverge, with the initial $15 incident evolving into a symbol of their early struggles and divergent values.
Their rivalry remained mostly unspoken but was evident in subtle digs during interviews and passive-aggressive references in social media posts. Followers and fans picked up on the tension, often speculating about the reasons behind their cold war. The story of the $15 refusal became a tech industry legend, a tale of how a small misunderstanding between friends could lead to a rift that impacted their professional lives and shaped their careers in unforeseen ways.

@TheProductLife @hpdailyrant I think that’s fair when you have established roadmaps and bets for future but in a domain where things are fluid conceptions gets us to the solution faster!

@hpdailyrant For me, I was very naive about the limitations of being an IC when I moved to big tech. I wish I had moved to management.
