📌Today, we mark the birthday of #YalkunIsa—a teacher, a brother, and one of the many Uyghurs whose life has been taken by enforced disappearance. Yalkun Isa, the brother of @Dolkun_Isa, UZDM President and former @UyghurCongress President, is believed to be serving a 20-year sentence on fabricated charges—punished not for a crime, but because of his brother’s peaceful advocacy. Birthdays are meant to be celebrated with family. For the Isa family, it is another painful reminder of absence. We remember Yalkun Isa today—and we demand his immediate release.

I am New York at the UN Headquarters. Just picked up my badge. In 2017–2018, I was expelled from this very forum under pressure from China. Today, I walked back in—no obstruction. Voices that are pushed out do not disappear. Now it’s time to speak again—this time from inside.
