If you notice, at the very beginning of The Phantom Menace, it's established that Jedi Knights are not commonly encountered. Even Nute Gunray has never seen one in person before.

I can understand being like "I thought the Empire had been around for more like 30 or 40 years vs. 20" but there's no version of the original films where the Jedi were not around in the living memory of some of these guys. People have somehow been misinterpreting the "ancient religion" line as meaning the last time the Jedi were publicly known was in antiquity, which makes absolutely no sense given anything else that we are shown and told. Motti calls it an "ancient religion" because it was around for thousands of years and now it is extinct!

@vagrant_john No he implies he knows what a Jedi mind trick is and that he's immune, yet apparently thinks it's so unlikely that he'd actually encounter a Jedi that he doesn't even consider that Qui-Gon might actually be one

@RabidW00kie @mightydudbolt If Watto himself is any indicator, then yeah there probably would be a lot of Toydarian stories about them "outwitting" jedi. Though Watto's actions come across more (to me at least) as him deliberately recognizing and calling out Qui-gon rather than a brag about being immune.

@vagrant_john @mightydudbolt We can safely assume there are lots of Toydarian legends of rebuffing force user tricks, so it’s only natural that Watto would go there to brag about his prowess (even if he didn’t know for sure this was a Jedi).

@RabidW00kie @mightydudbolt Thats entirely possible. But with how quick Watto recognized and called out Qui-gon's BS speaks to experience rather than theory. Because he could have easily instead said something along the lines of "wtf are you doing with your hand? You look stupid"

My brother was going through hia steam library and I remembered just how much Bravely Default 2 pissed me off.
It commits one of the cardinal sins of RPGs: having a bunch of cool statuses and effects that the player can take advantage of and then having most bosses be immune.

If I recall correctly, this made more sense in the films since he would be drinking vodka martinis instead of gin.
One of the reasons for this would be to betray the quality of vodka used. If it made the martini cloudy, then poor quality vodka was used and he wouldn't drink it.

@GameLoreDash The best aspect of Ashoka as a character was the fact that she reflected a lot of Anankin's worst traits back at him forcing him to grow as a character. Something he wouldn't have done nearly to the same extent then if he was paired with Obi-Wan the entire time

He's an absolute tyrant over the matoran and employed a private police force in the Vahki. And his name was basically pronounced "Doom". He was even revealed to be Teridax in disguise
But then nevermind, Dume was actually a good guy
