When MC asks Ao Yin what she smells like, Ao Yin listed the following: "the wilderness, the earth, the open savannas, the wind, other times it's a stream, a mountain, a pretty moonrise" He isn’t just describing scent here. He’s describing everything his wolf half has ever trusted. Those are places a wolf feels safest, the world his instincts were born into. So when he says MC smells like all of that, he’s quietly telling her that he had already decided she is his home. He then ends it with "burnt pancakes on a stove". Something small and human it almost feels shy next to everything before it. 🥹 That line isn’t the wolf talking anymore. It’s the man underneath, thinking about a kitchen and a lazy morning with someone who tried to cook for him but didn’t quite get it right. It’s not grand like the wilderness. It’s softer, maybe mundane and a little clumsy, but it's exactly why it means so much. So Ao Yin's answer here is really two confessions folded into one. His wolf calls MC home in nature’s language, and his human heart calls MC home in the small, everyday moments. Both halves of him consistently landing on the same person. 😭😩💛
