I’ve said for years that “Hovi Baby” sounds like Just Blaze made that beat specifically to mess with Jay, and he was up for the challenge.
The first 2 verses he’s flexing, switching up the flow every few bars, barring up crazy.
On the 3rd verse he’s in such a zone that he PURPOSELY starts flowing off beat just to catch up to the track.
And then in the middle of the verse, for the hell of it he starts rapping about the instruments on the track. Talmbout…
“Chasing the hi-hat all over the track
The snare is scared of the air in here”

This song is probably the best example of why Jay is the GOAT. So many unorthodox and weird flows with crazy rhyme schemes, stacked with insane bars and schemes. All while sounding very digestible and easy to understand. Nobody in history could do this beat like Jay
