On Tuesday, I'm proposing a study on the effectiveness of sentence diagramming as a tool to teach grammar in the middle level classroom. What do YOU think about sentence diagramming? #sentencediagramming #grammar

@vanlentena That "fixed" component of IQ is why I put very little stock in it. I try to teach my kiddos that no matter what you feel you've been given or what ways you've been slighted, it's what you make of yourself that matters most - no excuses! :) #5thchat

A3: I think it's super important to talk with Ss about what they are feeling. When we recognize that students' emotions are valid, they realize that they can manage them. #5thchat

@GregJWolcott What a cool idea. I'm always trying to remind students that just because they are feeling a certain way about something, it's not a bad thing. It's just what it is - and then we can decide what that means for us.

A3: We need to teach Ss emotions aren’t necessarily good or bad- they are information that tells us something. Ss need to learn what each emotion is “telling” us so we can use that info to navigate through life. Emotions are like batteries- a plus and negative side. #5thchat

@MrOverstreet101 @GrayMttrs That's a great point. Thinking about people I like most in the world, they are not necessarily geniuses but instead considerate and caring.

A1 - Emotional intelligence (in my words) is your aptitude for handling what life dishes you. Just like my "Marble Theory" belief & #GrowthMindset, I believe you can strongly improve your EQ if practiced & prioritized! #5thchat

A2: I'm a ML major, so I never know how students are going to handle their emotions. It's really important to me to be understanding of what's going in my students' lives and help them learn how to manage what they're feeling so they can focus on learning. #5thchat

I define EI as how aware a person is of their feelings and how capable he is at managing them. EI might involve ability to relate to others too #5thchat
