Good explanation here. IMO whenever speaking with family after an emergency high-risk operation, whatever the outcome is, you need to get to the point quickly. Whatever your delivery style, they should know within the first 15 seconds whether the person survived.

I spend so much time teaching individuals how to operate and try and save lives. However, sometimes the injuries are so severe that they do not survive.
