This week, Baltic Advocacy Days brought together 🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪 communities from across the 🇺🇸 to engage with U.S. lawmakers & staff on Capitol Hill. 🇱🇹 Ambassador @varvuolis hosted a reception at the Embassy and joined Baltic Happy Hour to thank @JBANCchatter for its strong advocacy. 🤝

🇭🇷🤝🇱🇹 Today’s meeting with Lithuanian colleague @BudrysKestutis reaffirmed the strong partnership between @MFA_Croatia and @LithuaniaMFA. Our shared commitment to close coordination within the #EU, #NATO, and the @3seaseu framework remains steadfast. Both sides highlighted growing economic ties, with bilateral trade reaching nearly €194 million in 2025 📈 and opportunities to deepen cooperation in sectors such as IT, industry and infrastructure. Croatia is grateful for Lithuania’s continued support for our @OECD accession. Addressing energy security and the diversification of supply routes, FM @grlicradman emphasized the strategic role of Croatia’s energy infrastructure. The JANAF oil pipeline system remains crucial for ensuring a secure and stable energy supply for Central and South-East Europe ⚡. Security cooperation within NATO was also discussed. Croatia currently deploys 90 troops to Lithuania as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence, reflecting our shared commitment to strengthening Allied deterrence and defence. Russia’s war of aggression against 🇺🇦 was another key topic. Croatia and Lithuania reaffirmed their strong support for #Ukraine, including cooperation within the Demining Capability Coalition. They also exchanged views on EU enlargement and regional stability, underlining the importance of a merit-based approach and respect for the Dayton principles of equality among the three constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Looking ahead, we are excited to further advance our joint initiatives and host our Lithuanian partners at the upcoming @3seaseu Summit and Business Forum in #Dubrovnik at the end of April! 🌊

Beekeeping has deep traditions in Lithuania, and thousands of people are involved in it -often keeping hives near their homes in the countryside. Ambassador @varvuolis met with 🇺🇸 Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor @StateDRL Riley Barnes today. They discussed the return of 🇺🇦 children abducted by Russia, the situation in Cuba, Tibet, Belarusian political prisoners, and possible cooperation.

Freedom House welcomes the @IntlCrimCourt's decision today to open an investigation into the Lukashenka regime for crimes against humanity. Lukashenka's decades of repression, which accelerated after the stolen 2020 elections, have resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Belarusians, the unjust detention of thousands of political prisoners, the abetting of Russia's illegal war against Ukraine, and provocations against neighboring NATO countries. We commend @LithuaniaMFA for its leadership in this referral and urge other States Parties to the ICC to consider joining their effort. #FreeBelarus

36 years ago, Lithuania regained its independence. During the decades of soviet occupation, our Embassy remained a symbol of 🇱🇹 statehood thanks to the 🇺🇸 non-recognition policy. March 11, 1990, was a dream come true for our diplomats who continued working here for freedom of 🇱🇹.
