I have sympathies with the Japanese, who crafted the best deal in the interest of the United States, only to see it fail as it became a political tool for both parties during the election. $X - $NPSCY bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@goal Seems like Jose found his league finally where he can complain about everyone else but not his outdated football gameplay and mindset.

Luxury goods are, by nature, nonessential. Whether it’s handbags, watches, or cars, they come with high price tags and aren’t meant to be ‘affordable.’ It’s a choice to go for a cheaper alternative if a luxury item isn’t within reach. There is no other industry which has that many alternatives as the handbag industry. Since when is a handbag as essential as water, food, or energy? $CPRI

Judge Rochon on her $CPRI decision: “Downplaying the importance of handbags as nonessential discretionary items that consumers can simply choose not to buy if the price is too high ignores that handbags are important to many women, not only to express themselves through fashion but to aid in their daily lives.” In the end, a judge’s personal interest and the redefinition by the FTC of the market led to the blocking of the $CPRI - $TPR merger. What a disgrace.

I hope the appeal process overturns the $CPRI decision, as it sets a troubling precedent where the FTC can continually redefine markets and block deals. This is a tough setback for American corporates.

The US is just about to kill their $X US Steel. Poor Japanese have been victims of US election efforts and campaigns.

Everyone is using the U.S. Steel $X merger as a political tool to gain votes from unions. Once the election is over and the votes are counted, no one will talk about this deal anymore, and the Japanese will do what they do best: closing the deal where they shook hands.

The $HA - $ALK merger is still very much open for me, at least for now. The assignment of a DoJ attorney doesn't have to be bad news necessarily, as it can be for settlement talks as well. I guess we will know very soon.

@nytimes Kamala Harris has no idea how domestic and geopolitics works. I don’t expect her to speak about any of these politics, which are the most important one for any US citizens.

Donald Trump keeps adding new tax cuts to his list of campaign promises, and their projected costs keep piling up. Kamala Harris has not detailed tax proposals, but aides pointed to President Biden’s latest budget as an indicator of what her plans will be. nyti.ms/3WU7Fnb
