@Milajoy In Indiana in the 70's and 80's it was pretty racist towards non-whites in rural areas. You still heard about KKK chapters existing in certain very rural towns. It was a big deal when migrant workers kids were inserted into our school or a black family moved to town.

When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s no one saw color. We were all just Americans. Why did that change?
