Hi, all! I'm writing a story about Des Moines' goal to fill in 100+ miles of sidewalk gaps over the next few decades. I'm looking for folks who walk/bike to school, work, etc. I'd especially love to chat if you have no sidewalk on your street and/or are due to get one soon.

Approval was met with a resounding "shame" from crowds inside and outside council chambers at Des Moines City Hall.

Both items were passed in a 5-2 vote. Council members Josh Mandelbaum and Mike Simonson voted no.
