If Drogba is the legendary striker standard, then the bar at Chelsea must have been set somewhere around waist height. Imagine building a statue for a striker whose usual league return hovered around 12–13 goals a season. In most big clubs that’s called a decent supporting striker, not a mythical icon. Chelsea fans talk about Drogba like he was some unstoppable goal machine but the numbers tell a different story. Week in, week out he was giving you the production of a solid mid-table forward, and somehow that turned into folklore simply because the club didn’t exactly have a long list of historic goal scoring greats before the money started flowing. That’s the funny part: at truly massive clubs, a 13-goal league season barely gets you applause, it gets you questions about form but at Chelsea it became the stuff of legends. When your club’s history is relatively short at the very top, even modest numbers can get inflated into mythology.

João Pedro has now equalled Didier Drogba's goal tally from their first full seasons at Chelsea in fewer games 🔵🔥 What a signing he's been 👏🇧🇷

Liam Rosenior is very angry about conceding from that corner kick. I wonder who was the guy assigned to mark Flemming? 🤔

🚨💣 EXCL: It’s over for Trevoh Chalobah at Chelsea — the defender will leave the club this summer. 🔵😳 The Blues have fully informed Chalobah and his entourage that he has no future at Stamford Bridge. He is not part of Liam Rosenior’s plans for next season. Newcastle United and West Ham remain firmly in the race to sign the 26-year-old centre-back. More to follow soon! 👀⏳

Nice to make (for the eighth time) the @Forbes List of the 100 most powerful women of the world 2025 and to be on the cover of the magazine. With power comes responsibility! We are doing our best to fight for and reform the rules-based multilateral trading system which the world needs to avoid a chaotic approach to world trade that would hurt the smallest and the least powerful countries. Congratulations to all my sisters on the list, and in particular my African sisters, HE Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of Namibia @SWAPOPRESIDENT, HE @SuminwaJudith, PM of DRC, Mpumi Madisa, CEO of Bidvest, @MoAbudu, CEO EbonyLife Group and HE @miaamormottley, PM of Barbados.

The 1,000-Km-Long African ‘City’: How the Abidjan-Lagos Highway Could Erase West Africa’s Borders A $15.6 billion super-highway is rising along West Africa’s coast, linking five nations - Abidjan, Takoradi, Accra, Lomé, Cotonou, Porto-Novo, and Lagos. Stretching 1,028 km, the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor carries 75% of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) trade and will connect over 52million people by 2030, swelling to 173 million by 2050. Backed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the EU, it promises to slash border delays, cut transport costs, and create over 200,000 jobs. American journalist Howard W. French who has written extensively on Africa, calls it the dawn of a “West African megalopolis”—a chain of booming cities merging into the world’s next giant urban corridor, rivaling Tokyo-Osaka or the U.S. Northeast. Expected to generate $16 billion in added value, it could turn the once-fragmented coast into Africa’s largest single market. If completed, the highway might do what colonial borders never could: unite West Africa through commerce, people, and unstoppable movement.
