The #USOpen2025 is off to a flying start. Already more drama than most Grand Slams. Leading the way is the “Medvedev Meltdown”. That was the most entertaining 7 minutes of tennis I’ve seen for a long time, and in my opinion the most a crowd has ever disrupted a game. Closely followed was the “Carlos Cut”. I’m not normally one to comment on a haircut but I’ll make an exception here. Next is the “Ostapenko Outburst”. Love a good rivalry, tennis needs more of this. Will definitely be tuning into the next game of Townsend v Ostapenko. Honourable mention was the “Stefanos Tsitsipas Sissy Fit”, bit of drama after his loss to Altmaier. Nothing major, but worth noting. Much respect to Tsitsipas though, tennis is brutal and he is a good guy. If you have read this far, Vellichore is promoting the ITF tournaments. There is more to tennis outside of the Grand Slams and the top 100 players. Seeing the journey of a player rising through the ranks and starting to make a living through tennis is an underrated aspect of our sport.
