tl;dr xiao’s duties and freedom can coexist together, he doesn’t have to give up one thing for the other because these two are defining traits of his character.

anyways, these are my two cents. as much as i agree venti influences xiao’s longing for freedom, zhongli holds a stronger influence on xiao’s perspectives and choices. after all, zhongli is the god that liberated him and gave him a new name.

respectfully disagreeing with that thread that says xiao’s desires are against his duties and quoting his namecard description as a support is just incorrect. rather than against it, xiao is well aware since zhongli has stepped down he is not bound to that contract anymore.

@hond_x that’s a really sweet and nice idea!! i’d love for x to relax and have a fun time but i also think his duty to protect is so hard wired into x’s mind that it would be a really long long process of unlearning what he’s been used to and defining himself where his duties ends.

@ventilogist for a few weeks with v just having fun and roaming the lands. He will inevitably still return to Liyue but he can finally start to understand that resting is ok and that he will always be welcomed back anytime.
