@Spiggy_Smalls @dabutlergames @SkallEdit Wow, this is a bit condenscending and disregardful of others. (1) VP is photography, but a photography in a simulated environment, and (2), these awards should be for everyone, not a select others who afford to spend thousands of €£ on hardware. Why do you focus on hyperrealism?
English

@verendrye_vp @dabutlergames @SkallEdit I disagree. If I shoot with a professional camera or a old phone camera shouldn’t matter. The outcome is still the same. If you feel limited, get better gear? The judges judge based on the photos, not the tools used to create them. End.
English

@synaktis Hey, Lisa, I believe the message we sent is a bit different than the one you're talking about... it's strictly about accurate judging, not about something else. Needless to say, dialogue is the basis between people, so I don't understand why we shouldn't talk about something?
English

Honestly y'all have to calm down about the #VPAwards. It's getting ridiculous.
An award should not define your worth. Y'all get more than 5 likes on captures and get sad OR even mad that judges don't like your art.
Stop discouraging yourself and hold your head high!
English

@Spiggy_Smalls @dabutlergames @SkallEdit It does matter, though. They need to know the limitations, opportunities and weaknesses of vanilla too, that's how you can understand the thought process behind a picture, how much effort it went into it to get out of those limitations and how someone used it to their advantage
English

@verendrye_vp @dabutlergames @SkallEdit If it’s vanilla or not dosent matter. They judge the photo, not how it was taken.
«No matter how sophisticated the camera, the photographer is still the one who makes it»
English

@Spiggy_Smalls @dabutlergames @SkallEdit Yes, but when you are a judge, you must know how vanilla works too, so you can have an accurate knowledge and criteria to judge a picture (done with vanilla). By knowing vanilla you can also value a modded photomode better too.
English

@dabutlergames @SkallEdit @verendrye_vp unlocking the camera during a cutscene to create your own frame from it is ok imo, but capturing the exact same frame as the devs made is if course not the same. I've shot plenty of Tomb Raider cutscenes with tools that unlocked the camera to enable "free cam". Is that not ok?

English

@QuasymodoXbox This isn't about frustration or jealousy though. When you judge something, you need to make sure you thoroughly understand the object of criticism, otherwise you can't produce an accurate result. I'm not against mods, or against post-editing, I generally support them.
English

@verendrye_vp 1/2 Hi, as the only photographer to win these awards twice, I have to say that I understand the frustration of not having the same tools. Those of us who shoot only on a console are at a disadvantage compared to people who use external programs on a PC.
English

@CapturesKh Hi. All the answers to your questions are in the pictures I shared. Thanks for the comment.
English

@verendrye_vp 1. Youre saying judges need to know every photomode in and out? Why? Real life Photography contests aren't judged based on what equipment you used. Why should vp awards be judged based on how restrictive a photomode is?
English

@SkallEdit Hey Guillaume, thank you for reaching out. As I said before, I admire your work and all the judges' work and I am happy to see that devs want to be a part of the vp movement too. I believe the awards could benefit if the judging had more people from the VP community involved.
English

@verendrye_vp (You can find things here to attest what I'm saying skalledit.com/gallery/) - I've not checked yet the finalist list, but I'll look today... Some of the things you say are true, but there is probably some reasons to why Mik decided to go for other professions
English

@verendrye_vp This isn't a bad take at all. Some of the points are completely justified. Specifically, this--

English

@CarrotsCaptures I believe everyone is and should be open to talk about perspectives, and for their perspectives to be valid and/or at least understood. It's simply dialogue. Also, art is not subjective. There are extremely objective parameters that can be set when judging art.:)
English

*taps sign in disappointment*
So much work goes into making the #VPAwards and it's a shame to see some negativity coming through.
Art is subjective and not everyone is going to agree with you on what makes good art.
I hope we can just enjoy the gorgeous galleries together
Greenie🥕@CarrotsCaptures
Typo: Weren't The #VPAwards shortlists are out so here's some important words from someone who didn't make it:
English

@TheFourthFocus And who is to decide whether or not the selections are (or not) representative? Personally, from what responses I've seen, the conclusion doesn't exactly match your words.
English

@verendrye_vp Many judges work in or practice VP, they know the process. Others have technical knowledge, artistic qualifications, & experiences that give very valid perspectives on what is / isn't a good image
I'd understand if the selections were non-representative, but that's not the case
