The Calcutta High Court has ordered the evacuation of encroached portions surrounding Kolkata’s historic Rustomjee Cowasjee Parsi Fire Temple in Burrabazar, paving the way for restoration and preservation of one of the city’s oldest heritage structures. The nearly 187-year-old temple, established in 1839, drew renewed attention after surviving the devastating Ezra Street fire of November 2025 that destroyed over 100 nearby shops. The court-directed clearance is expected to facilitate structural repairs, improve fire safety and restore the heritage character of the precinct. Civic authorities have been tasked with assessing the condition of surrounding buildings and removing unsafe occupations. The initiative is seen as a significant step toward protecting a rare piece of Kolkata’s multicultural legacy while reducing risks in the densely built commercial heart of Burrabazar.

#Breaking: West Bengal Police Directorate has issued an order directing personnel associated with the DWGR (Development, Welfare & Grievance Redressal) Committee to return to regular government duties. According to the official communication dated May 6, 2026 mentioned, it has come to the notice of the department that several police and Sahayak personnel deputed to the DWGR Committee were not engaged in active government work. The order instructs all concerned units and districts to take immediate corrective measures and redeploy such personnel to normal government duties with immediate effect.

@dyatlov75 @rishibagree I personally feel they opted out for not look out of the box in that 6 Pollster list where 5 giving majority to BJP and 1 To TMC. There personal opinion was more towards TMC seems and the same is also visible on their press release.

Bengal exit polls have historically underestimated TMC. Treat with caution. In 2021, virtually every exit poll got Bengal badly wrong — most predicted a close contest or BJP victory, and TMC won 213 seats. Also notably, Axis My India — one of India's most reliable pollsters — opted out entirely this cycle because voters refused to cooperate with surveyors

Never seen this kind of massive consolidation of Hindu votes. Bengal, traditionally viewed as a bastion of woke, leftist, & feminist, is now giving birth to an entirely new Hindutva politics. On May 4th, a hardcore Hindutva force will erupt nationally, one that is fiercely loyal to the nation.
