I am back! A project a weekday for Sonic. The last few days have been tailored towards gearing my long term crypto positions/looking after my clients, I apologise to the world of Sonic & DeFi! Never has their been a more important time to study the alpha of several ecosystems, and why not begin with the best there is - @SonicLabs We have explored a number of new, shiny, protocols that hit Sonic upon its release - but today we are exploring one that's been here the last few years, carrying much of what was left of the Fantom DeFi community throughout the bear market - Equalizer Exchange. Project #6 - Equalizer: @Equalizer0x What is Equalizer? Equalizer is a DEX on the Sonic blockchain, functioning as an advanced Automated Market Maker (AMM) designed to transform the liquidity landscape. Originally a key liquidity layer on the Fantom Opera network, Equalizer migrated to Sonic, becoming a central hub for tokens to contribute liquidity and access incentives. Equalizer uses a ve(3,3) token model to align incentives between token holders, liquidity providers (LPs), and the protocol, offering efficient trading, governance, and reward mechanisms for the Sonic ecosystem. Equalizer offers a range of features that enhance its role as a liquidity hub on Sonic. Its advanced AMM design optimises trading efficiency, allowing tokens to contribute liquidity and leverage incentives for growth. The ve(3,3) token model enables $EQUAL holders to lock their tokens for veEQUAL, granting governance rights to vote on pool incentives and earn protocol fees and rewards. Equalizer supports both volatile and stable pairs, providing flexibility for LPs, and its migration to Sonic ensures low-cost, high-speed transactions. The protocol also maintains transparent governance, prioritising community support and robust liquidity management. What is veEQUAL (Vote-Escrowed Token)? veEQUAL is the vote-escrowed token users receive by locking $EQUAL in Equalizer’s ve(3,3) model, incentivising long-term commitment. Holding veEQUAL grants governance rights, allowing users to vote on pool incentives and direct liquidity rewards, while earning a share of protocol fees and potential bribe rewards from projects seeking votes. The longer the $EQUAL lockup, the greater the voting power and rewards, aligning interests between token holders, LPs, and the protocol. veEQUAL holders also earn additional Sonic Points and Gems, boosting their share of the $S airdrop. Why do I like Equalizer? Equalizer, to put it plain and simple, in my most honest, humble opinion, has had it the roughest of any application on Fantom/Sonic. The team at Equalizer, including its protocol founder @blakehooper85, were one of VERY FEW DeFi protocols on Fantom that continued to build, produce products, and provide an application for DeFi users to continue using their favourite blockchain - Fantom (now Sonic). Upon Sonic release, much of the TVL left Equalizer, given the "DEX wars", and intense amount of DEX's people could use, meaning users were diversifying beyond Equalizer (and namely SpookySwap), spreading TVL elsewhere, resulting in Equalizer losing a fair bit of market share. Equalizer is still standing though. The community is still strong as ever. Blake is still building, as are the team, and they're never going anywhere.
