@versluis After a stroke I was left with vertigo, caffeine makes that much worse. I am more of a tea drinker but even that has to be decaf now.

@versluis My doctor told me to quit coffee. I’ve been doing really well, avoiding people drinking it, even steering clear of the smell… and then this pops up first thing on a Monday morning. You’ve got me shaking 😵‍💫

We're reintroducing and open-sourcing project "See-through". Given a single anime illustration, it automatically decomposes the character into fully-inpainted semantic layers with depth ordering. One image in, layered PSD out. (1/n) Repo: github.com/shitagaki-lab/…

every school should teach how Richard Branson started an airline with no money: to launch a transatlantic service, you need a Boeing 747... that's hundreds of millions of dollars. Branson started Virgin Atlantic with nothing. here’s what he did: he called Boeing's main switchboard and asked if they had a 747 sitting around that nobody was using. they hung up on him. he kept calling. eventually someone transferred him to the head of commercial sales to "get rid of him properly". head of commercial sales: "in every country, we have one customer. in the UK, it's British Airways. there's nothing to talk about." Branson's reply: "just humour me. do you have an old 747 lying around?" "...actually, yeah, we do." "what would you lease it for?" "about $200-300k a month." Branson convinced them to lease him that 747 because it was sat there doing nothing. then he structured the whole thing so he never needed to invest cash upfront: > customers buy tickets months before the flight > fuel gets paid 30 days after the plane lands > lease payments in arrears if you can start an airline with no money, you can start anything with no money. you just have to replace capital with creative thinking. & that's what we should be teaching our kids.

@sami_jen I can relate! Slide-over is such a shit-show, I've disabled it and never want to try it again😄 A great idea in principle for larger iPads, but the "intuitive UI execution" has failed miserably.

The Invisible Glass Experiment Scientists once conducted a fascinating experiment with a pike and an aquarium. They placed a transparent glass barrier in the middle of the tank. On one side was a large, hungry pike. On the other side swam several small fish. As soon as the pike spotted the smaller fish, it launched itself forward to attack. Bang! It crashed headfirst into the invisible glass and was thrown backward. Undeterred, the pike tried again... and again. Each attempt ended the same way a painful collision. After repeated failures , its head became bruised and some of its scales were knocked loose. Eventually, the pike gave up. It retreated to a corner of the tank, clearly frightened and defeated. Then, the scientists quietly removed the glass barrier. The small fish now swam freely around the entire aquarium some even passing right in front of the pike’s mouth. But the pike never attacked again. Even though it was starving, it refused to strike. In its mind, the invisible wall was still there. A few days later, the pike died of starvation surrounded by abundant food it could no longer bring itself to eat. This phenomenon is known as the Pike Effect (or Pike Syndrome). It serves as a powerful metaphor for how repeated failures and setbacks can create invisible mental barriers that limit us long after the real obstacles have disappeared.

A lot of work also goes into small details: Inventory items went from 64×64 pixels to up to 1K resolution. More detail — but also a lot of reworking behind the scenes.

We’re currently working on the enhanced version of our point & click classic Secret Files: Tunguska! Our goal: preserve the original atmosphere while improving visuals and fixing technical issues. One bigger update: the T-Rex in the Berlin museum — now with much more detail and a stronger overall look. Original vs. Remastered 👇

This year marks the 20th anniversary of our first point & click adventure, Secret Files: Tunguska. Although we’ve been working on the action adventure Gabby's Odyssey for some time, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to celebrate the anniversary of this classic – which is why we’re also working on a remastered version. Our goal isn’t just to “polish it up,” but to give it a thorough renovation without losing its original charm. To achieve this, we’re dusting off every pixel by hand (DLSS 5? What’s that? 😉), making the game ready for modern systems, and carefully refining its gameplay, UI, and overall player experience.

@Anim_Arts Fantastic! I really enjoyed Monolith, it retained the spirit of point-and-click with full 3D characters and controller support. Great job! I also recognised the Reallusion character, which was a nice touch. We need more games like that😎

@versluis Glad to hear that 😊 The Steam page should (hopefully) go live within the next few days — we’ll share the planned release date then. We won’t hit the exact original release anniversary (late September 2006), but it shouldn’t be too far off.
