We're building Ritual Tides from the ground up. We travel to real places to scan the rocks, trees, flowers. These scans allow us to hand-build the island of Hortus. Nothing is dropped in by default. It takes longer, it's hard work. But we want Hortus to feel real.

When creating weapons for Ritual Tides, we're treating guns as more than a simple answer to danger. A firearm can keep you alive, but violence should always have consequences. Every shot will be a decision.

Creating the antagonist for Ritual Tides meant thinking beyond a single monster or villain. The cult of the Fallow Parish is one layer of horror you'll encounter. But we want each discovery to deepen the mystery and every answer to create a greater sense of dread than the last.

In most games, a gun is the answer. In Ritual Tides, it's a decision. Ammunition is scarce, every shot carries consequences, and sometimes pulling the trigger is exactly what the island wants you to do.

Every horror story needs a good antagonist. In Ritual Tides, you begin by fearing the cult of the Fallow Parish. Just people willing to do terrible things in the name of something they believe is good. Only then does the island of Hortus reveal what lies beneath.

"Were they always monsters?"

"Weapons made to kill men are now killing monsters."

"The creatures described in Edward's journal are rarely spoken of as arrivals. Rather, they are spoken of as outcomes. These are not implications I find particularly comforting."

"There are storms that seem almost purposeful. They gather around the island and circle its shores for days. As though something - or someone - beneath Hortus has drawn their attention."

"Who is she? I have watched Edward study occult iconography for a decade. Yet this woman appears in no tradition I recognise. He draws her as one might draw a deity, yet writes of her as though she were something far less tangible."
