About Face: Veterans Against the War

We were founded as Iraq Veterans Against the War over the devastation we saw with our own eyes when Bush claimed we were going to liberate the people of Iraq and protect Americans. That war is now referred to as a blunder but it was a crime just like this War on Iran is now. /1

During the Iraq War, Iraq Vets against the War, now called @VetsAboutFace, formed to oppose the Iraq war. Based upon the tradition of VVAW, they organize against the wars, and conducted their own Winter Soldier Investigation around the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“They’re using us, our service, to get away with war crimes!” Veterans disrupted a “Veteran Benefits and Resource Fair” at UChicago on Monday, after the program‘s opening remarks thanked arms dealer Boeing for their sponsorship. The protesters directly confronted Boeing executive Todd Bertulis over the firm’s profiteering from U.S. wars while Veterans Affairs benefits and caregivers’ union rights are slashed by VA secretary Doug Collins and the Trump administration. The protestors were dragged out by event security, with @vetsaboutface organizer even being placed in a chokehold.

There were no ‘targets’ - these are residential buildings and hundreds have been reportedly killed. This is what Israel has been doing in Gaza and in Lebanon for the past three years: targeting civilian infrastructure in order to enact mass casualties, chaos and destabilization.

“Nobody gets out of the service without some kind of injury, whether mental, emotional, physical." U.S. military veterans are conducting outreach campaigns across the country to let active duty soldiers know they have a right to refuse to serving in Trump's illegal war on Iran. This comes as the Pentagon weighs sending 10,000 more U.S. military personnel to West Asia. U.S. casualties in the war are nearing 750 wounded or killed, despite Central Command evacuating soldiers from its bases in the region. On Wednesday, Iranian forces claimed they struck and killed 37 U.S. military officers in the UAE and Bahrain.
