⛔️ The EU reportedly wants Merkel to negotiate with Putin — but she’s against the idea According to Politico, Merkel has made it clear she does not see herself as a suitable mediator and believes negotiations should be handled by current leaders. The former German chancellor still remembers her infamous 2007 meeting with Putin in Sochi, when he deliberately brought his Labrador Koni into the room despite knowing Merkel was afraid of dogs. The German side had reportedly warned the Kremlin in advance, but the request was ignored — and the dog was widely seen as a tool of psychological pressure. Politico says Merkel is not the only potential candidate being discussed. The EU is also considering Finnish President Alexander Stubb and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

By cresting its own long range drones and missiles, Moscow itself is no longer safe. Russian infrastructure and in particular oil refineries are under constant attack. Autonomous systems innovations are capturing Russian soldiers and destroying frontline positions using few precious military personnel.
