I don't believe you can separate the "thematic approach to characters" from the structure that delivers them because their form wouldn't exist outside the sentences that create them in the first place, if you change the structure and you have a completely diff character

@vhalawilky @heartsawedoff I agree it is one of the most intertextually layered scenes ever created, but to me intertextual layering itself isn’t something that I care about a lot since it doesn’t necessarily add anything to me personally except for the fact that I know the author put more thought into it
