@Ayhd126H yeah I appreciate that he cares, which is more than can be said for some, but I don't think his on-field personality is helpful in this current context. Need him around the lads but preferably on the bench.

@viahalfspace love how dedicated he seems to the cause of staying up but a big no-no from me. Im sure it would be an absolute nightmare playing infront of him he moans so much

@thfcElPresident former keeper so I’m hardest on them unfortunately. That and I just find his attitude & interactions with teammates generally dislikable.

@bloomkral agreed, the more I read / watch the more I’m shocked he’s not in the conversation to be the first player taken. I understand there are some athletic limitations, but I’m of the mind his game will scale up with NBA spacing, particularly his playmaking ability.

Grizzlies decision at 3 feels impossible. You either pass on one of the most productive CBB players of all time who projects as one of the best non-guard offensive hubs in basketball OR you pass on one a high character, elite athlete whose ceiling is as high as anyone's

@josh_wiggan The Edey injury run has been incredibly unfortunate considering he was an ironman in college, but yh our front office is elite at scouting & drafting. Their track record is as good as any since Kleiman took over.

@viahalfspace Only worry is Edey is made of glass at least you got a haul for Jaren and Desmond build up through the draft I trust your scouts

@josh_wiggan Most excited I've been as a Grizz fan since 2022. A core of Clayton Jr, Coward, Wells, Boozer, and Edey (+ others) could really be something. As long as we get anything back for Ja, I'll be happy.

@viahalfspace My favourite spot for Booz like you said he fits well with Edey and they can move on from Ja and build around him

@josh_wiggan which they probably should. Boozer fits really well next to Edey, who can cover his lack of rim protection while Boozer spaces for Edey on the offensive end. Could see them having a good two-man game.

@Nb_srgn Most definitely. Was trying to think of the equivalent of non-shooters (those who can be afforded time & space) in footy, seeing as it basically equates to a lack of gravity, & the closest parallel I could draw was non-technically gifted players in the final third.

@Salib_C4 I remember ahead of the 2024 finals Joe Mazzulla brought Pep to Boston to discuss how to implement ideas from football's rest defense to help stop/slow transitions in basketball.

@viahalfspace 100% these 2 sports are much so similar than most think, my favourite part is the transition element of it all. Fast breaks attack the rim or kick it to free man. Will defo have a read

spacing & rim pressure's interdependent relationship in basketball = football's push & pull dynamics. Push dynamics (collapsing effect from ball carrier etc) creates time & space for pull dynamics (otb manipulation / deceit) = effective slashers creating rim pressure that, in turn, generates open 3s. The same otb presence from said push dynamics then demands the attention of the opposition that affords those push dynamics the space to drive into. This effect is similar to good shooters creating driving lanes by forcing their marker to stay attached for fear of their ability to exploit any gaps. The two feed off of one another, and one is not nearly as effective in isolation as it when paired.

@Salib_C4 Thank you brother! I agree, it's the perfect time to think about these stylistic overlaps between the two. I think @umirf1 had a really well written piece about Haaland's off the ball gravity & comparing it to Steph's, I'd definetly recommend it.

@viahalfspace Even if they’re not open, their gravity usually forces 2 bodies and so at the very worst case scenario it’s a 1v1 which is favourable for any attacker

The draft being a pre-determined event where every team & player knows exactly when these "transactions" take place also helps. It makes coordinating interviews, background checks, & all other QC steps convenient & easy. Transfers are much more opportunistic / spontaneous.

this has more to do with the lack of player autonomy in the draft. NFL prospects have little say in what team they go to, how early they get drafted, &, by extension, how much they get paid. This dynamic make the draft process an audition where the power sits with the teams.
-@DJ___129

Watched a load of content from NFL teams on YouTube on how they prepare for the draft, the meetings etc and man, the Prem/UK sports in general is just so far behind when it comes to stuff like this

Said it for a while, but the aesthetic bias of Vicario's reflex saves convinced people he's an elite shot-stopper. In reality, he struggles with distance shots, is inconsistent in parrying, a poor distributor, & horrific dealing with set pieces. Kinsky is & has been better.

@georgeachillea Good claiming of crosses and generally deals with set pieces well. Only real critique I have is that his wrists are pretty weak, and his attempts to parry shots are often weak or poorly aimed.

Yeah and especially on modern (and RDZ football), the ability to be comfortable on the ball is so important and this season has shown more than any physicality in the box has increased so he HAS to be strong on crosses Still not sure if Kinsky is there yet in terms of commanding the box but he’s improving every week
