Fujimori's political party, Fuerza Popular, has already been incorporated into an investigation ran by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
This shouldn’t surprise us. Money laundering is not something new for Fujimorists. In fact, it is something they have already succeeded doing in the past. Buying the media, buying high-ranking government officials and establishing an authoritarian regime in a democratic country is not cheap. Alongside Fuerza Popular, Joaquín Ramírez, their former secretary-general, is under investigation for his involvement in this alleged criminal operation.
According to the prosecution’s case, Fuerza Popular allegedly received contributions of suspected illicit origin from companies linked to Joaquín Ramírez and from irregular business transactions related to Alas Peruanas University, an institution headed by Ramírez’s uncle, Fidel Ramírez Prado.
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that these funds were channeled to the party to finance political activities and that, had the party come to power, they would have been repaid through personal benefits or favorable regulatory measures, such as overpriced public works projects or tax breaks for cooperatives and private universities.
No. She’s definitely not a saint, in fact, she’s the devil and has been continuously destroying our country's democracy from the inside.
I assume you’re not on the left, neither am I. I consider myself a right-winger, and that is why I cannot remain silent in the face of a party that does not represent the true principles and convictions of my ideology. Fuerza Popular shows a lack of respect for institutions, legislates against the rule of law, and governs authoritatively from Congress.
