It has been a tough but successful week of snare removals. Together with many team members we have removed a snare off the front leg of a female buffalo, another snare had cut into the neck of a elephant calf, and a finally a wire had wrapped around the neck of a female kudu.

On Friday afternoon we were able to dart this adult female warthog that had a wire snare around her neck. Fortunatley she didn't have any deep wounds. Much thanks to @pureafricavf for calling us out, VFAPU and Zambezi Horse Safaris for your help on the ground.

Earlier this week we responded to a report together with @Zimparks regarding a report from the local rural community about an orphaned baby kudu. We commend the community for their report! If you would like to help support his 24 hour care please donate: vicfallswildlifetrust.org/donate/

Last week a good samaritan phoned us about an African Goshawk that was coming into their garden but had a problem with its leg. We were able to catch the bird and on x-ray examination found that his left leg is fractured. He is currently undergoing treatment and doing well.

Recently we had a Tawny Eagle brought in to the rehab centre. The Eagle had a fractured right humerus. After anesthetizing the bird and taking X-rays, Dr. Peacocke was able to pin the wing and we have been monitoring its recovery. We hope it will regain full use of the wing.

Today, we’re grateful for those who support wildlife conservation. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends in America who celebrate. Although turkeys and vultures are not related, it’s easy to understand the focus on vulture conservation this time of year.

Yesterday we responded to a buffalo with a bad wire snare wrapped around it's back right leg. The wire had cut in and the wound need a bit of clean up. We believe the buffalo will make a full recovery and thanks to Adrian Read, Zimparks, Josh Rhodes and Paul from Shearwater.

People please make sure you pick up your litter! Last week we had back to back immobilizations of warthogs. This one had a piece of plastic PVC pipe embedded in its back left leg. The team was able to dart it and remove the pipe. Thanks to the ground team @vfapu @Zimparks

Yesterday we were successful in removing a deeply embedded wire snare from a young male elephant calf. We had to dart the mother as well for safety and to ensure they would remain together. Our wildlife vet treated the wound and we will monitor recovery. @MatetsiLodge thank you

VFWT removed a snare from this buffalo's leg, treated the wound and successfully released it. Tragically, this particular snare line was responsible for killing 4 other buffalo and, as our #ChallengeGrant wraps up, we can’t stress enough how much your support will help
