Can confirm, I moved to the wisco in 2013 and it took me two years to learn this and then I spent the next decade wondering whether everyone secretly hated me until I moved back to the east coast where people will just call you an asshole to your face

A very underrated thing that parents can do for their kids is demonstrate life as a mostly-happy adult fulfilled by their friends and hobbies (and maybe job too) so kids don't grow up thinking adulthood, marriage and parenthood will mean being trapped and depressed.
