Eh, no. It was horrendous. It was a tragedy followed by complete policy failure. The word genocide is thrown about so easily, it will lose its power.

@realcalroche @rtenews He has a right to have opinions but was fired for his behaviour within the school. Easy to believe his behaviour was off the wall, given how family behaved in court. As a teacher, one has to be professional and keep prejudices to themselves.

This is ill informed. The State already funds charities like Simon Community to provide food to homeless people. Their staff are Garda vetted & trained to link homeless people to health & addiction services & hostels. Volunteers' soup runs undermine the impact of these services.

@TsubiAl @mcmnorris When a government body tells you to use xyz charity (that they've funded) you're basically using another government body that we've paid for from donations

@mcmnorris Have you tried getting into a hostel? Also that's quite the saviour complex. Sometimes it's OK to just feed someone without trying to save them.

@vickym75 The council funded food services also provide showers, clothes & access to medical & addiction services & hostels. Food is the 'hook' which gets people to engage with these supports & move out of homelessness. On street food provision by well meaning volunteers undermines this.

Because homeless people have no reason to engage with services such as the Simon Community soup run or the other comprehensive state funded services if they can engage with alternatives.

So a young man got into taxi Christmas eve & said if I didn't mind he forgot his wallet so had to run in and get me the fare when we arrived at his destination which can sometimes ring alarm bells. We had a great chat & he told me he's from India and living & working here with Tesco doing nights & paying €800 PM for a room but says he's living the dream compared to where he's from. Anyway he ran up into the apartment block and true to his word arrived back, gave €20 for a €15 fare, insisted I keep the change & also gave me a bottle of Baileys which he said was given to him by someone & as he doesn't drink alcohol he would like me to have it Lot of nice people out there

I’m one of the 590k people over 65 who has spent today alone. I got up late, drove 60+ miles round trip to place a wreath on my parents grave, watched a couple of movies of my choice, and ate a very nice turkey dinner. I’m fine on my own, thank you.🎄🍷 news.sky.com/story/1-4m-wil…

Currently between houses and some people are feeling more sorry for us than the situation warrants. There are people out there in real crises, or in perfect houses with awful lives.

@SusanSmythSL Definitely Susan. I followed a van today which was so slow and kept on going slower and then speeding up but still no where near the limit. I guys we also have to remember that some may have taken a tipple

Speed kills we all know this but I feel the RSA need to also address how excessively slow drivers are the cause of many accidents. In America there are lack of progression laws which I feel should be introduced here.
