@Genki_JPN People don't understand the difference between destructive and constructive criticism. Saying something is shit is destructive. Saying that this is bad but this is how you can fix it is constructive. The former is bad; the latter is good. He's saying no destructive comments.

Yoshi-P wants to remind fans that developers are also people too He says that harsh words and non constructive criticism can potentially demoralize developers that they don't want to make games anymore and as a result gamers could miss out on that next great game. He understands that fans may have frustrations and he wants to be friends with players and for them to enjoy what they make. @Gamescope34556 Wukong being mostly boss rushes doesn't make it better than Astro Bot, that is very fun and excels in most areas as well. Again, a game doesn't need a story to be the best.

@Gamescope34556 Gameplay should be at least 50% the deciding factor of who wins GOTY, with the rest decided by everything else. If the gameplay is good than everything else matters if not than it should not even be nominated for GOTY.

A game doesn't need story or real actors to win GOTY, only great gameplay and Astro Bot has the most enjoyable gameplay of 2024. Absolutely deserved GOTY last year over any other game.

@Gamescope34556 I mean Wukong should have won and Astro Bot not is also an opinion, I didn't play Wukong, but from what I heard Wukong is mostly boss fights and that doesn't appeal to everyone either.

@videreludus Wukong was objectively a better game than the rest of the nominees, not in all fields but most. Some people will call Wukong mid. They decide based on their opinions, but in terms of story, action, adventure, music, etc. It is an absolute Masterpiece.

@Gamescope34556 Balastro seems at least deserving to be nominated since a lot of people are having a lot of fun with it and seem to want more. Astro Bot has fantastic gameplay, but also great graphics, a beautiful art style, fantastic music and awesome physics.

@videreludus If you consider the TGA rule for GOTY, "A game that excels in all technical and major fields". Simply, Narrative, audio, action, adventure, score and music, art direction, acting, direction, impact, and innovation". But TGA himself doesn't follow this rule by nominating Balatro.

I mean games are better now in many ways. Some recent games that I feel are masterpieces though: * Ghosts of Tsushima * Last Of Us * God of War * Red Dead Redemption I get that there is a way to look back nostalgically. I mean I still have awesome memories of playing old Tekken, crash bandicoot, Quake, Warcraft II, Command and Conquer and many others. But games now are definitely improving quality wise IMO.

@Duppypixels @kjngamer Sales like Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn and even GTA or Call of Duty are not the norm but the exception. Most video game companies would be happy to even get 1 million copies sold. So it saddens me when Astro Bots sales get compared to Sony's popular games.

Close to 11 months after it's release Astro Bot still hurting him 🤣
