ANI Editor Smita Prakash was invited as Chief Guest to the oh-so-prestigious Miranda House, University of Delhi. She arrived two minutes early. The faculty and organisers, however, clearly operate on a different timezone called irresponsibility. No show. Just 4 to 5 students & a whole lot of embarrassment.
She did what any self respecting professional would do, she called it out. And right on cue, the usual opposition circus showed up, not to question the incompetence, but to troll the person who had the basic decency to show up on time.
Let’s be clear. This was not just disrespect towards the Chief Guest. This was Miranda House disrespecting its own name, its own standards, and whatever remains of its credibility. An institution that cannot honour its own invitation, cannot respect someone else’s time, and cannot get its faculty to show up, has no business lecturing students about discipline or responsibility.
This episode did absolutely nothing to Smita Prakash’s reputation. If anything, it exposed exactly who values professionalism and who treats it like an optional extra.
As for the ones laughing, I would say this reflects on them too, but that would require them to have a reputation worth denting. Class cannot be taught, and this entire episode is proof of that.

प्रधानमंत्री जी की लोकप्रियता बहुत तेज़ी से गिर रही है। देश के सामने ढेरों चुनौतियां हैं लेकिन प्रधानमंत्री जी उनका सामना करने में असमर्थ हैं। लोगों का गुस्सा हर गली हर मोहल्ले में सुनाई दे रहा है। देश का युवा सोशल मीडिया के ज़रिए अपनी निराशा और गुस्से का इज़हार कर रहा है।
समस्याओं का समाधान निकालने की बजाय सवाल पूछने वालों और सरकार की आलोचना करने वालों को गिरफ़्तार किया जा रहा है। अब सरकार ने सोशल मीडिया को ही कंट्रोल करने की योजना बना डाली है।
मोदी जी को समझना होगा कि लोगों में पनप रहे गुस्से के उफान को इस तरह के नियमों से नहीं दबा पाएंगे।

The entire world welcomes the two-week ceasefire. We need peace, not war.
But it is deeply disturbing that Pakistan has played an active role in brokering the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
A nation, that harbours terrorists and has been on the brink of economic collapse is now a key player in global geopolitics - while India has been conspicuously absent from the scene.
To dismiss this as a non-event is foolhardy and an ostrich-like denial. This is NOT nothing.
India, which has for centuries been the moral compass of the world, now finds herself isolated and sidelined. We have ceded the strategic space at the world stage which has been very quickly occupied by a rogue state - Pakistan.
Meanwhile, India openly and foolishly - aligned with Israel and America. We even failed to muster the moral courage to denounce the American President’s call to nuke Iran and wipe out an entire civilisation.
India has been found floundering, directionless and timid in our response. In a defining moment, India chose to stand on the wrong side of history.
India, has paid a price for a compromised Prime Minister who chose to be a coward when the world needed us to be brave and just. India has been let down by a man who is being blackmailed by the US and Israel.
History will not forgive Narendra Modi for allowing Pakistan to play this role on the global stage - at India’s expense.

BBC Hindi has deleted its misleading post about a ‘5-day reserve,’ but the damage has already been done. By claiming that India has only 5 days of oil reserves, @BBCHindi completely ignored the 74-day buffer maintained by the SPR and OMCs.
Spreading such unverified, panic-inducing content is a blatant violation of basic journalistic ethics and a threat to economic stability. This calls for strict scrutiny.
I urge @AshwiniVaishnaw and @HardeepSPuri to take cognizance of this ‘hit-and-run’ journalism. A thorough investigation into the motives behind such misinformation must be conducted, along with appropriate action under the IT Act to ensure that global outlets are held to the highest standards of factual accuracy.
No more immunity for fear-mongering.
