Yeah, the director had choices to make, and I assume she went a little campy to try to get butts in the seat, which was a mistake for the hardcore Punisher fans like myself. I would love to see an edited version of this that goes hard. The Ennis comics used the comic relief character of Soap, which I was never a fan of, and I think she was trying to go that route.

Notice that the only grunting yelling or screaming in this clip comes from The Punisher's victims, while Frank himself is collected and professional. THIS is how the Punisher should be portrayed.
Yes, this film had it's flaws, mostly the choices the director took with tone, and actors chewing the scenery, but Stevenson's portrayal of the Punisher is still the best we've been given.

@JJ_Giammarco @QTRBlackGarrett It's a lot of fun, but more slow as in Punisher doesn't go in guns blazing. He plans and manipulates events and gathers intel. That's like 75% of the movie is him gathering intel and planning but somehow it works

@QTRBlackGarrett When I saw this in the theater, I remember laughing out loud a few times as did a lot of other people. It's a weird film, tonal problems. I really dig the Lundgren Punisher though. He resigns himself to death and just kills everyone, as Frank should.

Also from what I understand from the psychology of Frank is that he’s an insane person with a moral compass. He’s not a hero or a villain, just doing his job. Call me out if I’m wrong here.

From the clips I’ve seen of Bernthal’s Punisher, I don’t really like how he runs headfirst into danger and screams alot. Punisher has always felt quiet and less Max Payne and more of a tactician. Maybe I gotta read his 80s and 90s stuff to understand him more
