Here is my submission for @runwayml's #RunwayBigPitchContest ! It's an isekai battle-shonen in a video game world! It's called Super Pixel Planet. Without getting too sappy, mental illness is something me and my family are passionate about, so we wanted to create something that incorporated the challenges of living with mental illness and the urge to use video games (and other things) to escape the struggles and suffering of life (even though we LOVE video games, and it's also a tribute to video games!). My brothers and I have actually been thinking about this idea for a long time, but it's not until recently with all of the advancements in AI that we ever thought it would actually be possible for us to do. I mainly used Seedance 2, HappyHorse, and Kling 3. I used Suno for the last 2 songs, but the first one was actually made a while back by my longtime friend, Robert Bryant! I also used ElevenLabs for some of the voices, but my brothers and I did most of the voice acting ourselves haha Also, of course used the crap out of ChatGPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro 2 lol I definitely learned a lot while making this, so there are tons of things I would do differently next time, but I had an awesome time doing this! Crazy what can be done in like a week-and-a-half now 🤯

Never underestimate how much time and effort you can waste by trying to automate a process you do not understand manually.

@miku_diffract That’s a lot of hours, the effort will pay off eventually, regardless if we win or not, they are all good entries for portfolios.

@vikthors_ I started it quite late into the competition maybe like 3 days ago. Took me around 30+ hours I think. Everything from generating references, environment to trial and error with video gen 😅

Do you think AI can create something truly original? A lot of people (even some so-called experts) say no, simply because it’s trained on existing works. So what? AI uses algorithms to recognize patterns, but the results it generates are original. No two outputs are ever the same. Does it build on what already exists? Sure. But how is that any different from what artists do in any field? If what AI creates isn’t original, then nothing is. Strictly speaking, everything is a copy of a copy. Nothing exists without a body of work that came before it.

Kill the Angel - Episode 2 I continue the story with a more action-driven episode. I wanted to flex my editing chops, as well as my direction skills. Total, took me about 18 hours to complete this, much less than Episode 1 because all of the voices and assets were pre-made. All visuals generated by Seedance 2.0. And all Dreamina monthly credits were used. Unfortunately, Episode 3 will have to wait a few weeks, as I am gearing towards a epic fight video, which requires experimentation. Please let me know what you think! Please note: All of the music is by Yoko Kanno, from her various albums. Her music fits very well with the themes.
